If you don’t Set Targets, You’ll Achieve Nothing – Pastor Chris
On the last night of the Pastor’s Conference, Pastor Chris took the ministers on a journey into the realms of the extra ordinary.
A night which saw him giving words of knowledge on some pastors, he also blessed the pastors from Uganda and Cameroon. But most significantly, he touched briefly on the man from Iraq who has been reprinting Rhapsody of Realities and distributing to people, and he had an encounter with Jesus. It was a night of revelations, praises, and worship.
He touched on the importance of humility in the service of God informing the pastors that the ministry of the church is a spiritual ministry and that God has no place for self promotion.
He warned them to fight self promotion of it will fight them stressing that “that wicked one will accuse you of self promotion even when you are not.
How will you fight that demon when you are involved in such? Remember that you’re serving Christ. Search your heart. When it is right, nothing else matters, nobody can do anything to you; the Lord is my helper I shall what man can do to me. I have no fear”.
Continuing, he said that “I shall not fear what man can do to me. Glory to God. It’s a very spiritual ministry. Glorify Him no matter what. Do only that which God does trough you. The manifestation of the Spirit is given… 1 Corinthians 12:7”.
Explaining how the Spirit of God works, he used 1 Samuel 10:1 as reference, according to him “Jesse’s first son was tall and loyal to his father, that’s all. But God chose another as directed by God. Samuel knew that the asses have been found and that his father was looking for him. He knew because the word of knowledge was revealed to him. He was just telling him everything that will happen to him. That’s just wonderful”.
The spirit of God will change you, he said. “There’s a difference between impartation and the infilling of the Holy Spirit which takes over you. There was a time they were filled with breath and there was a time they were filled with the Holy Ghost”.
Using Ephesians 5:18 – (Amp) as reference. He told the congregation to be filled and stimulated by the Holy Spirit. When you’re filled with the Holy Spirit, you’ll be stimulated. You’ll be excited. He will cause you to do His will. He set Ezekiel on his feet. You can know that you’re beside yourself. And the more it happens to you the better.
Also going back to 1 Samuel 10:6 and 1 Samuel 16:1, Pastor said that “God’s talking to Samuel about Saul and His message to Saul is that he is fired, but, He has a message for someone else.
God was specific. He sent Samuel to the house of Jesse. How Saul could reach a point where he could try to kill the very prophet of God that brought him the word of God? This troubled me for long years back. God told Samuel what to do and how to go about it. Saul was going to use the same power of God to deal with the man of God.
Some of you are like that. Samuel was moved for Saul even when Saul was angry with him. He interceded for him in prayers. It’s not about you or you. It’s about the One you carry on the inside. God told Samuel to go and organise a sacrifice and anoint the one He has chosen.
(1 Samuel 16:8) He looked at Eliab and said surely, …. “But the Lord said to Samuel..God considered Eliab and rejected him.
I know exactly what Samuel felt. Don’t try to promote yourself. Samuel couldn’t just lay hands on any of them because the anointing was not there anymore. He must be accurate; it concerns the destinies of men and nations. Never carry out any ministration to save face”.
Samuel finally told Jesse that God has not chosen any of these! He’s had it. All the sons have passed, yet, he knew that none of these were chosen by God. This was the prophet of God. Prophets are not people who look into the spirit, things are revealed to them.
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If anything be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted (1 Corinthians 14:29 – 14:31 KJV).
If nothing is revealed to you, relax, don’t force it to happen. Look at Samuel. Thank God that Samuel asked Jesse if those were his only son. God spoke about Eliab and thereafter kept quiet.
And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither (1 Samuel 16:11 KJV).
We must still walk by faith even in our ministry. The Lord may reveal only a little and you will walk by faith in the message that God gives for you not to miss it.
We live in eternity. Sometime you receive a message before the person enters into the place he will be ready for the message. Be concerned about your responsibility. A lot of people listen to you. You must be a helper. Have confidence in what God tells you.
In prayer, the Lord gives me messages many many years ago, say when I was 15, 16… I could see and hear people, but they couldn’t see me. It’s about intercessions and messages for them. I began to learn that it’s not as though I had to meet them naturally. I got to know their names. Real revelations, not dreams, I had to pray for them.
There are people even in your congregation you can help in prayer than you can do physically. The Holy Spirit transports you. Communion of the Holy Spirit. The spirit of the Lord carried me… Elijah and Ezekiel said so… On each occasion, God revealed powerful things to them.
Our ministry is spiritual. There’s spiritual guidance. There’re no impossible targets. Say you have to bring 100 souls next month. Even if you don’t meet it, the Holy Spirit will not kill you. Stretch yourself. Build your confidence. Have your plan. It will not happen by itself.
Re-plan if you don’t meet it. Growth is not a miracle. It’s the application of principles.
In pastoring trough the years, from tens to hundreds, to thousands, I always set targets, numerical and financial. Sometimes I hit it, sometimes; I almost did, sometimes, far off. I keep raising the dykes. If you don’t set targets, you’ll achieve nothing. Aim at something.
“You want to win souls, influence people and your society, etc, set targets. I can’t even host cell leaders’ meetings in the National Stadium. I used the National Stadium only thrice and it couldn’t contain us. We filled everywhere there were space until regulators started getting concerned about safety. I remember the last one, it took an hour for me to get from the stadium gate to the stage. I started praying.
It also happened in South Africa. Growth is not a miracle. It’s practical application of principles and means. It’s the same with financial miracles. What God wants is for you to be consistently supplied. Then you move from there. Real growth means that there’s real addition. The Lord added to the church.
Financially, you must have financial goals for yourself, not for others. You may have for others for training. There will not be any problem when they don’t meet it. It’s just training. Set financial goals for yourself. Growth and financial goals work on the same principles.
If you’re frustrated in these wise, no matter your preaching, your message will not go anywhere. Some people get uneasy about money because they may feel that they’ll be asked for it.
You should want more money even if it is for others. Someone with more money can do more for people than one without money. You can send people to school and become the hand of the Lord.
We have invited only 15,000 of our partners only. Translators were acknowledged. Only the Spirit of God can gather all of them from around the world. We don’t pay them. A man was printing and distributing Rhapsody of Realities in Iraq.
His touching story about how Jesus came to him one night when his physical body was weak and healed him and told him not to stop printing it. It was not me who sent him an email to continue, it was Jesus! That’s wonderful.
The efforts of our brethren and very inspiring, we have a food campaign, through which we are sending foods to the needy and we are also sending children to school and educating them. It’s about the gospel.
Today, terrorists are recruiting children at a very early age, should we be quiet? Our children are going to meet those children in the future.
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes. Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law (Psalm 119:135 – 119:136 KJV).
Be happy, learn to laugh, but, when we understand the future of this world, our hearts is heavy and tears come to our eyes. If you’ve not be so moved, then the Holy Spirit may not be in you. The passion of the Christ. Feed your passion. Passion for the very person of Jesus Christ.
You can think of Jesus in a non personal way until you’re dispassionate about Him. He is a Person. He lived and died as a man. Do you have Him in your focus and in your mind. Do you adore Him as a person. Jeremiah prayed that Jerusalem should come to your mind.
I’m thinking about Jesus. Let Him come to your mind. May God fill you with love for the Man Jesus. If it happens, everything will disappear and lose its value. But you know, don’t wait until then. Set your eyes on Him. He’s all that the Father cares about.
The Father has invested everything on Him. When He died, everything stopped. For 3 hours, there was darkness. Stir your heart with the passion for the Master. No one can do it for you. No one can pray for you in his place. You’re the one to do it.
Several things you can do to have a real balance in relating with man and God. That’s very important. See with the eyes of God; train yourself to see with the eyes of God.
The quality of your personality depends on you. Jesus said that if you love me, my Father and I will come and make our abode in you said Pastor Chris in closing. It was such a wonderful meeting that even when Pastor left the stage, many where still standing in awe, not looking at their time because the atmosphere was charged.
