Cell Ministry is the Foundation of Ministry—Pastor Vale Odu-Thomas
The Cell Ministry has been described as the very foundation of the Ministry of Christ here on earth through the Church. Sating this yesterday at the ongoing International Pastors and Partners Conference, Pastor Vale Odu-Thomas noted that the Cell Ministry is not just an idea but a structure of God to raise His children and expand the kingdom. “It’s a tool and pattern given by our Man of God, Pastor Chris by the spirit of God consistent with the scriptures to help us to carry out the assignments of evangelism irrespective of the circumstances”, he added.
To achieve the purpose, he pointed out the need to focus on numerical growth, spiritual growth, financial growth and social impact growth, these he itemized as how God fashions it. Pointing that the same way the physical body starts from the cell system and grows, that’s how the Cell Ministry grows.
On the importance of numerical growth, he said that every man comes to the world through growth that was why we were admonished to “Go ye into the world and make disciples of all men”. The Cell, he said is a missionary squad. Every one that comes to you has his own world that is why it is important to raise them to win their world as missionaries. The Cell is where brethren receive training he said, noting that it is a tool and pattern that assures growth because it enables people to bring those they are connected to.
The Cell is also a home. According to him, “everybody in this world comes from a home and it is where people get protection, nurturing, provisions, among other things”. The home in the church is the Cell because it raises, feeds and guides the brethren, and as they increase in number, they exhibit that caring feeling for each and everyone, that is why “people don’t leave a home of love. That’s how God wants it”, he added.
He highlighted that raising people in the ministry starts from the cell. He gave the analogy of King David whom he said got it right with the sheep and he was given the nation to care for. “You’re given the cell to run, use it to train. It’s what you’re given to increase”. On how the structure grows, he read from Exodus 18:24, how Moses chose able men and made them leaders of men, saying that it gives insight into the administrative structure of God for His church. This is how God organises His children. Everybody has something to add and supply. The cell has to grow. This is the growth tool for expansion, he said. It’s a classroom. It’s a production line. You will become ardent.
The Cell Ministry he warned is not a joke. “This is the system. You will learn how to make it work. You have to make it work. You use it. Growth is the right application”. It makes ministry easy and predictable. That’s the tool to use and the pattern to follow. You can watch the people changing. I remember the first time I laid hands and how I filled people with the Holy Spirit. It’s a classroom. You can get things done at the Cell meeting. How the Cell leader got the pastor to talk to his Cell.
The Cell Ministry he emphasized is the way God has structured things, it is very important, it also manifested in the New Testament because Jesus Christ had cell members, so get another twelve and keep changing nations. Pastor Chris asked God for only ten people when he was coming to Lagos, and see what he did with that number. He reemphasized that the Cell Ministry is a tool, pattern, family structure. You have a responsibility to make it happen, he admonished brethren.
